March TBR 2021

A few days (or a week) late but better late than never, right? I completely forgot to make both a wrap-up post and a TBR post because I was too busy reading, no joke. I plan to merge my February and March wrap-ups but I decided to make a TBR post for this month still. Here are the books I’m hoping to get through this month:

1. A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer

Goodreads Summary: Find the heir, win the crown. The curse is finally broken, but Prince Rhen of Emberfall faces darker troubles still. Rumors circulate that he is not the true heir and that forbidden magic has been unleashed in Emberfall. Although Rhen has Harper by his side, his guardsman Grey is missing, leaving more questions than answers. Win the crown, save the kingdom. Rumored to be the heir, Grey has been on the run since he destroyed Lilith. He has no desire to challenge Rhen–until Karis Luran once again threatens to take Emberfall by force. Her own daughter Lia Mara sees the flaws in her mother’s violent plan, but can she convince Grey to stand against Rhen, even for the good of Emberfall?

At the tail of last month and beginning of this month, I picked up and finished A Curse So Dark and Lonely, the first book in the Cursebreakers series. I fell in complete and utter love and will soon have a full review posted on here. It’s been such a long time since I’ve fallen so hard for a book and its characters. Grey was perhaps my favorite character from the series so far so I’m excited to dig in and see where the second book takes him.

2-4. The Shadow and Bone Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

Goodreads Summary: Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee. Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling. Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.

If you’ve read this post I made a while back where I confessed some of the most popular series I haven’t read yet, you’d know that I have yet to read these. After seeing the Netflix trailer, I am more than determined to finish this series before the show is released so I can experience all of the hype and feels with everyone else.

5. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Goodreads Summary: Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone. . . .A convict with a thirst for revenge. A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager. A runaway with a privileged past. A spy known as the Wraith. A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums. A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes. Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.

Surprise, surprise, I haven’t read the Six of Crows duology either. I’m not ambitious enough to try to read the entire Grishaverse series in one month so I’m settling on just the first of Six of Crows. However, the show doesn’t release until late April so I’m hoping between now and then I’ll be able to read all of them. Currently, I only own the first book in this duology so I will definitely be searching to purchase the second book soon. Since I’ve heard this duology also is tied into the show, I want to be able to experience it as well before viewing.

And those are all of the books I’m hoping to get through the rest of this month. Are you also going to be reading the Grishaverse in preparation for the show? Let me know down below and happy reading!

  1. I know two of the books here (Shadow and Bone, and Six of Crows), and I’ve always wanted to read them haha. I have a lot to get through though, book wise that is, but I’m keen on reading your reviews!
