TBR: May 2021

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re having a great day/night so far. This month I plan to participate in a readathon in the middle of the month from May 16th-21st so my monthly TBR is a little shorter to account for that. I will be posting my TBR for the readathon closer to the date it starts but I will be attempting to complete 3 books during that week. So here are the other 4 books I’m hoping to finish this month!

1-2. Six of Crows & Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get through the Six of Crows duology before the Shadow and Bone show dropped on Netflix but I’m even more intrigued to get through them now that I’ve seen some episodes of the show. I’ve heard that many readers prefer the characters or the storyline of Six of Crows to Shadow and Bone so I’m hoping I’ll join their ranks soon! Six of Crows is a spin-off sequel to Shadow and Bone and takes place in a different part of the fantasy world. The books follow a group who are trying to pull off a deadly, unlikely heist.

3. Counting Down with You by Tashie Bhuiyan

This book is one of my most anticipated releases of May and I have it on preorder so I hope it arrives close to its release date. The book follows a Bangladeshi teen who has always followed whatever her parents wanted her to do. When they go abroad to visit Bangladesh for a month, Karina gets sucked into a lie with her school’s resident bad boy who she’s been tutoring. She agrees to fake date him while her parents are away but the more she gets to know him, the more she’s unsure if she wants things to go back to the way they used to be. The book is own voices along with anxiety rep and I’ve heard amazing things about it. I also follow the author on Twitter and she’s super sweet. I’ve loved seeing her excited tweets about her book dropping soon.

4. Realm Breaker by Victoria Aveyard

Another one of my most anticipated May releases and also a book I have on preorder, Realm Breaker is Aveyard’s newest series. Another young adult fantasy like her well-known Red Queen series, the book follows a girl who finds out she is the last of her line and also the last chance to save the world from destruction. She bands with some unlikely companions to oppose the dark force trying to destroy her world and I’ve seen that the book includes pirates which makes it an automatic read for me.

And those are the books I’m hoping to read this month outside of my readathon I’m participating in. Look for that TBR to drop on the blog soon. What books are you looking forward to reading this month? Let me know in the comments and happy reading!

  1. This is an amazing TBR Wren!! Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom are amazing. I can’t wait to see what you think of the characters — my personal favorite is Matthias 😍 And Realm Breaker’s blurb has similar vibes as Six of Crows so obviously I need to read it ASAP 😂

I hope you enjoy all of these books when you get to them! 💕
