Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s topic is a Freebie, and I’ve chosen to feature Gothic Fantasies. Some of these are ones that I didn’t love, but I think other readers would.
1. The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi (4 stars)
2. One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig (5 stars)
3. Juniper & Thorn by Ava Reid (5 stars)
4. Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid (4 stars)
5. Alchemised by Senlinyu (5 stars)
6. The Death of Jane Lawrence by Caitlin Starling (3 stars)
7. A Dowry of Blood by S.T. Gibson (3 stars)
8. A Forgery of Roses by Jessica S. Olson (4 stars)
9. Horrid by Katrina Leno (3 stars)
10. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs (4 stars)
Please let me know if you have any additional recommendations for Gothic Fantasies!
This is an interesting subgenre for sure. 🙂

I love your topic today 😀 Also, I’ve had One Dark Window on my TBR (and bookshelf) for sooooo long… I just can’t seem to find the inspiration to actually start it

it’s sooo good! a lot of info at the beginning, but once you get your bearings, it’s an amazing ride 🙂

I’ve read One Dark Window and need to get back to Alchemised, I was already hitting a reading slump when reading this book. And it’s huuuuuuuge, so not a good sign!

I love a gothic fantasy tale and cant believe I haven’t got around to picking up One Dark Window and Alchemised yet 🙈 Juniper & Thorn is my favourite of the Ava Reid books that I’ve read so far though and I had a similarly mediocre feeling towards Dowry Of Blood it looks like rating wise. I loved the writing style but one of the relationship dynamics derailed everything for me towards the end 🙈 Starling House is another that I loved and recommend checking out if you havent already.

one dark window is sooo good! definitely worth the time. thank you for the suggestion of starling house! i haven’t read it yet. i will move it up on my tbr 😊 i feel like ava reid is one of the best authors to read for gothic fantasy. they have such a good variety in the genre already.
